About Us

Mboho Akwa Ibom State Association (MAISA) UK & Ireland

is a non-profit, socio-cultural organization that brings together sons and daughters of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, who live across the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Originally founded in 1989 in London as the Akwa Ibom State Community in the UK & Ireland, our organization was later renamed in 1998 to its present title — Mboho Akwa Ibom State Association (MAISA) UK & Ireland — following the enactment of our constitution. Since its inception, MAISA has remained a vibrant and unifying platform for Akwa Ibom indigenes in the diaspora, driven by our founding vision: “To bring Our People Together.” Our guiding mantra, Eto isidaha ikpong iforo akai — translated as “A tree alone does not make a forest” — encapsulates our commitment to togetherness, mutual support, and collective advancement.
